Gazer

The Gazer is a creature that has existed for eons. It dwells in an elaborate cave system that spans most of the globe. Like a shark, it is constantly moving, searching for prey. Completely mindless, it will attack anything in its path, wrapping its victim in its tentacles and then rending them to shreds with its oversized claws and teeth. Rarely has a human being encountered the Gazer, and even more rarely has one survived to relate the experience. Little is known of the origin or biology of the Gazer. What is known is that it levitates by some means and it seems to hunt by echolocation, often producing a guttural, ululating cry that reverberates through the caves in a manner that makes its location impossible to pinpoint. Those who hear its cry would be well advised to run and pray that they're actually going farther from the source of the sound.
